Biography

Dr. Asif Imran is a faculty member at the University at Buffalo in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering. Prior to joining the University at Buffalo, he served as a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Software Engineering at California State University San Marcos. During his Ph.D., Dr. Imran was advised by Dr. Tevfik Kosar. He was advised by Dr. Kazi Sakib during his Masters. His teaching philosophy centers on student success, and hands on practical skillsthat prepare students for real-world challenges. In research, Dr. Imran focuses on green software engineering, exploring ways to make code, particularly that generated by large language models more energy-efficient.

Spring 2026 — ELR Demo Day Presentation

May 2026

Undergraduate students Lindsey, Labib, Ayan, and Justin successfully completed their ELR project and presented their work during the Spring 2026 Demo Day showcase. The project focused on green AI and energy-aware software systems.
